The Bar
Isolated thunderstorms
Surround the bar tonight.
Intermittent showers of
Froth and ice pour down the wood,
Surrounding me on all sides
With thunderous claps
And lightening glares,
As the glasses empty fast.
Relief efforts were needed
When glassware piled up along
The north side,
While the ticker was playing havoc
With table traffic.
I walked out of that mess
To escape the downpour,
Light a cigarette,
And sound the report.
Surround the bar tonight.
Intermittent showers of
Froth and ice pour down the wood,
Surrounding me on all sides
With thunderous claps
And lightening glares,
As the glasses empty fast.
Relief efforts were needed
When glassware piled up along
The north side,
While the ticker was playing havoc
With table traffic.
I walked out of that mess
To escape the downpour,
Light a cigarette,
And sound the report.
